Fred Mertlich Art Reception & Celebration

Friday, September 25 · 5:00 pm
Heber City · Festivals

Celebrate Fred Mertlich and his remarkable contributions to preserving the history and character of Wasatch County through art. This special reception will feature Mertlich’s artwork from the library’s current exhibit, America250 Through a Local Lens: Celebrating the Artwork of Fred Mertlich, on display September 1 – October 31, 2026. The exhibit is sponsored by the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts. Throughout his career, Mertlich has created illustrations depicting historic buildings, barns, antique vehicles, landscapes, wildlife, schools, and other familiar Utah scenes. His detailed artwork provides a unique visual record of the places and communities that connect generations. Community members are invited to come together, enjoy his artwork, and recognize Mertlich’s lifelong dedication to art, history, and community. The reception will also honor Fred in celebration of his 90th birthday! Light refreshments will be served. See you on Friday, September 25, from 5–6 p.m. at Wasatch County Library for this special celebration of art, local history, and community.
