The Shape of Sound

This fall, NEXT Ensemble premieres The Shape of Sound, a production featuring six brand-new chamber works, each paired with original choreography. Six composers. Six choreographers. Six brand-new pieces audiences will only see this season. The Shape of Sound comes to Ogden on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Ogden High School, and to Salt Lake City on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Regent Street Black Box. The program features new music by composers Randall Smith, David Campbell, Andrew Maxfield, Anthony Buck, Igor Iachimciuc, and Jessica Rudman. Choreography and dance are provided by Fem Dance, a Salt Lake City-based dance company, with choreographers Jaclyn Brown, Taylor Tumminia, Alicia Ross, and Natalie Tolman. The evening will be performed by musicians Blanka Bednarz (violin), Cindy Child (clarinet), Tia Jaynes (flute), Jie Deng and Ning Lu (piano), and Risa Bean (cello), under Music Director Mariah Wilson.
