Revolution to Reconciliation: A Musical Dialogue with Indigenous Songs

Traditional songs from Indigenous North America — drum, flute, and voices, with dance — meet the music of European immigrant communities of the Revolutionary era, sung by vocal quartet with banjo and fiddle. The pieces are paired by theme: preparation and battle, mourning, community, refuge. For Utopia’s contribution to Salt Lake’s commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we bring together voices from 1776 that are rarely heard together.
