The special event will cover a range of basics to grow high-quality organic seeds, including: • Seed Biology • Flowers and pollination • Growing seeds • Harvesting and processing seeds • Seed storage • Seed literacy • Wild seed harvesting & native seed production • Organic weed, pest, and disease control in seed crops • Selection and on-farm crop improvement • Opportunities for selling your seeds This school will also include special guest speakers Joseph Lofthouse (author of Landrace Gardening), and Rikki Longino (Salt Lake Library Garden Coordinator & Mobile Moon Co-op). It will also include field trips to Grand Prismatic Seed to learn about native & dye plant seed production & get hands on practice with seed harvesting, and True Leaf Market to see large-scale seed packaging & distribution in action. Lunch will be provided both days, with check-in beginning at 8:30am with snacks and coffee. Seed School starts with an optional Field Day on Sunday September 20th, which you must register separately for. Check back soon for more details.
