Michael Kessler: All Resin

Each painting is built from up to fifty micro-thin translucent layers, fused and accumulated until something luminous emerges. Biomorphic forms weave through geometric structures, nature’s logic made visible through an almost meditative process of application and restraint. Kessler likens his gestural freedom to a kind of painterly tai chi, controlled, but never rigid. In his all-resin works, that layered depth takes on new dimension. Light travels through the surface rather than simply reflecting off it, making each piece feel as much like a living object as a painting.
