Tad Calcara and New Deal Swing Band WWII
As our nation commemorates it’s 250th anniversary this summer, join the New Deal Swing Orchestra for a tribute to one of the most colorful and heroic eras in U.S. history: the 1940s. As the United States and its allies fought and won World War II, the pop culture of the 1940s produced a musical soundtrack that reflected the dazzling innovation and patriotism made possible by American democracy. The swinging sounds of the big bands provided a welcoming and energetic soundtrack for the world to enjoy. This evening’s concert celebrates that American spirit from more than 80 years ago with the music of Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, and Duke Ellington, along with patriotic marches and favorites from Hollywood’s glory years. This is a free concert in collaboration with Excellence in the Community.
